Custom Engineering

When off-the-shelf won’t do, our custom engineering services provide bespoke designs that take into account your unique requirements.

From scratch or adjusting existing specs, we also provide FEA analysis and computational simulations for accurate representations of pre-production parts.

Our capabilities include designing specialty components with features such as complex geometries, consolidated features, specialty materials, and functionally-graded alloys.

Unique Expertise

Our team has designed components for an array of industries, from aerospace and energy to manufacturing and automotive. Our approach is based on a combination of experience and research, with input from both mechanical engineers and physicists, which translates to a holistic approach to design and engineering.

Reverse Engineering

Overcome challenges to legacy parts with our reverse engineering services. Ensure precise, high-quality replacements and spares when original suppliers and prints are unavailable.

USE CASE

Instron Tensile Grippers

H13 Steel, 1018 Carbon Steel

Faced with the challenge of tensile testing hardened steel, Inconel®, and Stellite®—materials too tough for traditional wedge grippers—we needed an alternative. Since a ready-made solution didn’t exist, we engineered our own custom grippers with a modified shoulder.

Designed using finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure optimal performance, our solution was realized through hybrid manufacturing of an H13 steel shoulder built atop a 1018 carbon steel base. This design focuses the high-strength properties where they’re needed most.

Finite element analysis drives design and ensures safe performance of the shoulder and the threads.
